[ODFPlugtest] summary of the The Hague plug fest, commitments

Interesting response. However, my meaning with moving that item up a
little is not that easily guessed.
My meaning is not to give the impression that something is wrong with
ODF. As even Rob Weir has said publically, the mere existence of a
plugfest is enough to indicate that. The world knows no man is perfect,
not even men who write ODF. If it was there would be little need to
improve interoperability between applications since you could just say
'read the spec'. But we can't.
My intention is to give focus on that which matters most, only by
restructuring the content more logically.
IMHO it makes much more sense to say:
What we will do:
- fix bugs (targets the people who were at the plugfest, 1% of the ODF
implementers)
- improve the spec (targets the rest, which is 'only' the other 99%)
How we do it:
- this
- that
Doesn't that make more sense than just going to mix the two? My goal in
life is not to 'create scenarios'. That is not a goal, it is an
activity. Who cares about our activities?
I am interested in hearing your opinion. Especially on the way we intend
to improve interoperability with people who are not at the plugfest, and
might not even have heard about it. Isn't that only possible by
improving the ODF specification?

I disagree. "Improve the ODF spec" at #1 is only meant to create the
impression that something is wrong with ODF.
The improvement of the spec is done in the TC. We are here to work on
interoperability, we are not the TC. We are implementing the standard
as-is
making sure it is done with interoperability in mind.

I generally agree. However, I'd move the "Improve the ODF spec" item to
be
the first in that group. This should be the main focus of us all if we
want
to foster ODF support in the ISV community.
I think this section should first name goals, then approaches, not the
other
way around.
e.g.
We will:
- Fixing bugs in implementations in timely manner
- Provide detailed feedback to the TCs when need for clarification /
correction
By doing
- submitting scenarios
- Analyzing scenarios in a group effort / wiki
- Discussing interoperable solutions to the problems
Something like this.

Onderwerp: [ODFPlugtest] summary of the The Hague plug fest, commitments
Hi,
I'm trying to come up with a summary of the test sessions we've been
doing
at The Hague, especially the "what are we going to do next" part
It's still a draft, but I would like to doublecheck if participants can
agree on the following statements. Maybe it wasn't said explicitly, but
this
is what I've understood from the various comments during the wrap-up and
the
other discussions:

mmitment
Best regards,
Bart
