Got hinted off-list to infinote protocol, and I could learn that they have two 
variants per document-modifying op, e.g. <insert/> and <insert-caret/> or 
<delete/> and <delete-caret/>, where each *-caret variants "additionally 
places the cursor of the user that made the request".
So at least one reference for the "setOwnCursor" property solution :)
