I set up Ubuntu 8.10 in VirtualBox and the factory is working great for
me. Are you sure that your SSL client cert is good? Can you access the
server with your browser using the certificate?

I'm using a since (non-encypted) pem file containing both the key and
the cert, signed by CACert.
